Rye is a grain with roots embedded in American spirits history. Easier to grow and hardier than barley, rye was king when it came to distilling whiskey in colonial America. With its spicy, grassy character, rye whiskey was the main type of whiskey consumed in the United States from the late 18th to the early 20th century. The mash bill of this particular grain whiskey is 85% malted barley and 15% malted rye. This small proportion of rye gives our whiskey a spicy bold complexity that compliments and balances the sweet toasted cereal characteristics of the malted barley.

Description: Real Spirits Distiller's Edition Straight Malt Whiskey….As artisan distillers always seeking to try something new, we wondered what flavors and aromas could yield from a whiskey distilled from an inverted grain bill, with malted barley as the main component in the mash. We held true to our grain-to-glass process by brewing three seperate mash bills with upwards of 85% malted barley in each and complemented by 15% corn, rye,and wheat in each of the three mashes. Once fermented, distilled, and aged seperately, the three individual whiskeys were mingled by our master distilller. The result is a beautiful marriage of Mexican vanilla, caramel, macadamia, and coconut aromas that carry over onto the palate along with creme brulee and nutmeg. This whiskey finishes with an unmistakably rich flavor that lends itself perfectly to sipping neat! All whiskey s aged is least 34 months...
